More Bad Math Humor
September 20th, 2006 by SplineGuy
Since I am now on a roll with these “wonderful” capsules of hilarity, try a few more that tickled my funny bone. By the way, most of these are not that funny, but just plain sad. And yes, the title of this entry should probably read, “Worse Math Humor.”

I think they’re hilarious.
Oh yeah, this is my kind of math humor. Especially the first two. Love it!
I can’t believe I just said that. I don’t really HAVE a “kind” of math humor. Math is EVIL. EEEEVIL.
I just sayin’…
I’m glad they’re appreciated.
Spooky, you know there is a fine line between love and hate. I’d really believe you if you were simply indifferent to math, but your passion betrays you.
Believe me Spline, Spooky hates math. It comes from many years of having inept athletic coaches trying to teach algebra in a small, class A high school where no one really cares unless it hinders you from adding up the score on Friday night.
Of course that was easy at our school becasue our football team never scored.
Anyway, when I got you email notice, I just glanced at it quickly and thought it said ‘bad mouth humor’ so naturally I checked it out immediately.
Sadly, I know someone who had a student do the equivalent of “joke” number 3. The student’s TA told him that the limit as x approaches 8 of 1/(x-8) is infinity (which isn’t even correct….gah!), so on an exam, the student wrote down the answer of “omega” (i.e. the lower case Greek letter omega) as the answer for the limit as x approaches 3 of 1/(x-3)…
I’ve seen the one you are talking about but it always seemed harder to get the math illiterate (spooky?) to get the joke.
Jonboy, a couple of these are much more offensive to a mathematician than your dirty limericks.
Math illiterate Mom says a couple of them ARE funny…the first 2 make sense to me…..
Is this what you do at work all day now that you are “just a professor”? I think I may need to call up some of the people who chair the committees you are on and let them know you have too much free time on your hands.
Yeah. I have another one math joke: http://darisa.wordpress.com/2006/09/19/mathmatics/
