Wordpress Blogging

I don’t know if anyone ever noticed or cared for that matter, but I don’t use blogger for my blogging. I actually host mine and my wife’s blog on a server at our house. No one ever has asked why, but that’s never stopped me from giving an answer. I implemented it so that I could use something called latex renderer, which basically allows me to enter mathematical symbols into my blog. For example:
However, one drawback from this is that I don’t have access to nice blog clients and image interfaces that go along with blogger. Why am I telling all this? Well, basically I am testing a blog posting tool on my pda, an IPAQ. I guess you could call it moblogging, i.e., mobile blogging. I wonder if I just coined a new word? I doubt it.

“Latex renderer” is a cool term. The equation looks pretty nifty, too! Blogger lets you post from your cell phone, but I’ve never had anything that pressing to post, so I’ve never tried it.
Didn’t you tell me once that you had to write your own program to enable certain mathematical symbols — those that normal people can’t read or understand — to be used on your computer?
That’s exactly right. That’s why all this is on my server, so that my programs will run.
But I should clarify, LaTEX is not a program that I wrote, it is a highly used typesetting language that produces the mathematical symbols in a readable formate. A document is written in text and then compiled by LaTEX into a readable form. My server uses LaTEX to put those symbols on a blog, something Blogger cannot do.
Oh, and it’s pronounced lay-teck NOT lay-tecks.
Lay-teck is not nearly so cool. Sorry.
By the way, happy upcoming Mole Day, 2005.
Three cheers for Avagadro!!
